Curriculum & Testing

Babcock Schools is committed to academic excellence. Our curriculum supports the delivery of high-quality educational experiences that will support our work in developing global citizens through a variety of engaging teaching methods, academic excellence, relationship building, and a positive climate and culture where service to others is experienced and developed through each of our Project-Based Learning experiences.

To achieve the academic excellence we seek to achieve at Babcock Schools, it is imperative that Babcock Schools hire educational rockstars to facilitate our classroom learning environments.  It requires both teaching excellence in the classroom and a quality curriculum to ensure the highest academic excellence possible.

Please know that Babcock Schools are required to follow the Florida State Standards when delivering content to our students.  The standards provide our school with the clarity and support necessary to ensure we are meeting the expected learning outcomes of our students identified at each grade level. Students at Babcock Schools are required to take all state assessments.

If you have any questions about our curriculum, assessments, or project-based learning model, please contact our Director of Curriculum & Instruction, Mrs. Kari Lewter, at [email protected].

Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST)

Beginning with the 2022–23 school year, Florida’s statewide, standardized assessments in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics will be aligned with the Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.). Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) will be administered three times per year in grades VPK through grade 10 English Language Arts and VPK through grade 8 Mathematics. These assessments replace the Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) and are intended to measure student progress in learning B.E.S.T. standards as well as evaluate final student mastery of on-grade level B.E.S.T. standards at the end of the school year.
