When is the Giving Challenge?

Noon to Noon, April 9-10, 2024.

What is the Giving Challenge?

The Giving Challenge is an exciting online 24-hour online giving event that connects about 700 nonprofit organizations with passionate donors and community members to support diverse causes and create enduring impact in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties.  By donating to Babcock Neighborhood School, Inc. during this time, your impact is doubled due to the generosity of the Giving Challenge, sponsored by the Community Foundation of Sarasota and strengthened by The Patterson Foundation.

How Do I Give?

You can Donate Online Here: https://www.givingchallenge.org/organizations/babcock-neighborhood-school-high-school. During the Giving Challenge, all funds donated online to Babcock Neighborhood School, Inc. will be matched 1:1 up to a total of $100. This means $25 becomes $50; $50 becomes $100; and $100 becomes $200!

If you are generously able to give more than $100, we ask that you do so as a unique individual or business in increments of $100, so each donation will be matched. Please reach out to [email protected] with any questions.

Why Give to Babcock Neighborhood School – Our Story

Located in the heart of Babcock Ranch, Babcock Neighborhood School, Inc. provides an educational approach that transcends traditional classroom learning. Our curriculum, enriched with project-based learning, is designed to cultivate real-world skills essential for thriving in today’s modern society. Our students are not just learning; they are evolving into true Trailblazers – effective communicators, critical thinkers, and ready to make a meaningful impact in our ever-changing world.

In just six short years, Babcock Neighborhood School Inc. has triumphed over many challenges including facility construction, managing a rapidly growing student population, attracting and hiring only the very best teachers, and developing a comprehensive PBL curriculum from scratch.

Our schools have emerged as leaders, surpassing the academic benchmarks of neighboring districts and establishing a robust and competitive Athletics program. Now, we are turning our attention to further developing our Arts, STEM, and Music programs.

Excitingly, a major step in this direction is the upcoming launch of our brand NEW Arts building, scheduled to open in fall 2025. This state-of-the-art facility will house designated spaces for band and choir, among other arts-focused amenities, creating an environment where our students can truly excel in the arts. It is crucial for us to fill this new space with the best resources and talent to fully realize its potential.

As a charter school, our funding model differs significantly from traditional public schools, making community support vital for the enrichment of these essential programs. For the 2024-2025 school year, our goal is to enhance the Extracurricular (Arts, Music, STEM, and Athletics) offerings for our students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. These are not just extracurriculars but core components of a holistic education model.

Your contributions will be crucial in several key areas:

  • Musical Instruments and Equipment: Equipping our budding musicians with a variety of instruments and state-of-the-art equipment.

  • Art Supplies and Technology: Providing a broad range of art supplies, traditional mediums, updated equipment, and the latest digital tools for our art students.

  • Athletics Program Development: Establishing competitive Football, Soccer, and Baseball/Softball teams, including funding for necessary equipment, NEW field maintenance, and qualified coaching staff to kickstart these programs effectively.

  • Dedicated Arts and Music Instructors: Hiring experienced faculty and exceptional Band and Choir instructors which are crucial to the success of these programs.

  • Performance Enhancement: Equipping our facilities with professional-quality lighting and sound systems, set designs, costumes, interactive theater materials, and more for high-caliber Choir and Theater productions

  • Curricular Integration: Integrating Arts and Music more deeply into our everyday curriculum for an enriched interdisciplinary learning experience.

  • Extracurricular Activities Support: Supporting various Art and Music clubs to offer students additional avenues for skill development.

  • Competitions and Exhibitions Participation: Enabling participation in external events and field trips for broader exposure and experience in the arts.

We sincerely thank each donor for considering a contribution to our Giving Challenge. Your generosity not only impacts our students’ educational journey but also ensures they have access to an education that fosters creativity, innovation, and well-rounded development. We are #bettertogether.
