Babcock High School Dual Enrollment Program with Florida Gulf Coast University and Florida Southwestern University
Babcock High School’s Dual Enrollment program, in partnership with Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) and Florida Southwestern University (FSW), offers an exceptional opportunity for students to gain a head start on their college education. These programs allow high school students to enroll in college-level courses at either university while still completing their high school diploma. It’s an ideal pathway for students who are ready to embrace the challenge of higher education and wish to accelerate their academic journey.
The Dual Enrollment program is tailored for students who demonstrate academic readiness and the maturity to handle the demands of college coursework. Participation in this program not only provides a taste of college life but also allows students to earn college credits that can be applied towards their future degree. This unique opportunity not only enhances their academic credentials but also provides valuable insights into university-level studies.
Enrolled students can choose from a wide range of courses offered by FSW or the FGCU ACE program, enabling them to explore and deepen their understanding of subjects that interest them. This exposure to college-level education not only bolsters their academic profile but also aids in a smoother transition to full-time college education post-high school.
To be eligible for the Dual Enrollment program, students must meet certain academic criteria, including a requisite GPA, and be approved by both Babcock High School and FSW or FGCU. These collaborative programs are a testament to our commitment to providing students with diverse and challenging educational opportunities, preparing them for success in college and beyond.

Babcock partners with Florida Southwestern State College (FSW), Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), & Charlotte Technical College to offer students the option of part-time or full time dual enrollment coursework. FSW offers part-time or full time coursework on or off their campus. Applications for dual enrollment can be submitted at any time, but students are limited when it comes to registering for courses based on the deadlines set by FSW each semester.
Students first need to apply and once they receive their BUC ID number, they can schedule to take the Accuplacer which is the placement testing required for a student to be eligible to take dual enrollment courses. Students can also qualify for dual enrollment coursework through FSW by using a PSAT, ACT, or SAT score. This scoring table shows the scores necessary to be allowed to take courses at FSW. Once approved to take courses, the student needs to submit a registration form. Students can search course offerings and find the information necessary for filling out the registration form at the following schedule search link. Once a student completes the form and submits it, the counselor will review, fill out their portion of the form and submit it to FSW for registration. Students will then receive an email when the form has been processed by FSW and they can check to make sure all courses have been registered.
FGCU offers the ACE program. The ACE program is a full time program offered through FGCU where students attend FGCU exclusively, beginning either in their junior or senior year. Applications are accepted once annually with the typical deadline being the end of March. Students wanting to apply to attend the FGCU ACE program should plan to take an ACT or SAT test prior to March of their current school year because it is required for consideration. Students are also required to submit essays.
FGCU holds numerous information sessions throughout the school year leading up to their deadline in March. Please access the link above to learn more about the program and the dates those information sessions are being held. FGCU’s program is different from FSW because it is limited on number of students accepted and is therefore a more competitive program to utilize.
