The Cambridge Program at Babcock High School
The Cambridge Program is designed for students seeking an advanced educational experience that spans a global perspective. The curriculum emphasizes not only the breadth of academic study but also the development of research, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The program incorporates various assessment methods, including external examinations set by the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and essential practical work.
A core philosophy of the Cambridge assessment system is to reward students for their achievements and understanding rather than penalizing them for errors. This approach demands high literacy levels and the ability to organize and articulate knowledge and ideas effectively.
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is a two-year course that lays a solid foundation for further studies, including the Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) and Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Students undertake external exams administered by CIE, earning individual subject certifications upon successful completion. Additionally, the State of Florida has an agreement that any qualifying AICE score between an A-E will result in college credit being given to the student if they attend a Florida college or university.
